Casal do Colquico is situated in Pontével, a typically Portugese village in the middle of a rural region with many vineyards. The village is located near the Al Norte (the motorway from Lisbon to Oporto) at a distance of:

• 65 km to the north of Lisbon center
• 55 km to the north of Lisbon airport
• 8 km to the south of Cartaxo
• 22 km to the south of Santarém

In Pontével you'll mostly find basic facilities, including several shops, a bank with a cashpoint, three restaurants, a hotel and even a discotheque. Additional facilities are to be found in the nearby towns of Cartaxo and Santarém.

To reach the house, you have to pass a gate and a 150 m. drive. The countryside is rolling, with occasional steep hillslopes (some over 15%) that offer a nice challenge to hikers and cyclists. The locals love to have a little chat with visitors - though strictly in Portugese, only the younger generation has a slight command of the English language. They tend to take their time, so be prepared!
